Nowadays, we
can’t be apart from smartphone. We use our smartphone every time and everywhere.
But, we don’t realize that smartphone is bad for us. Smartphone is disrupting our
sleep at night and increasing risk of anxiety. Smartphone also decrease social
interaction between people. And it has bad impact for our health.
63% of smartphone
users age 18 to 29 fall asleep with a smartphone or tablet in their bed, when
they know smartphone is bad for them. The light exposure of smartphone can push
back sleep time twice as long as coffee does because its ability to suppress melatonin,
the hormone that helps with sleep timing. Spending so much time staring at a screen
also can lead to anxiety and depression. The more time people spend on their
smartphone, the more likely they are to be depressed.
Instead of
making us connected, smartphone makes us more isolated. We are more distracted
and become less present in social life. We also becoming less connected to our
friends and family.
Smartphone is
not good for our health. Direct exposure to blue light can cause damage to the
retina of the eye. Smartphone also damages our ears. If we use smartphone for
listening to music that is too loud, we can damage the tiny hairs in the inner
ear, which transmit chemical signal to the brain.
Basically,
smartphone is created to connect everyone around. But however, it’s not good
for us if we use it too much.
